Minecraft 1.21.120.04 - a fresh Android version is out, where the developers fixed 80 bugs and added 23 cool changes.
I’ve already had a quick hands-on with this update and can say — the work is substantial.
Developers clearly focused on stability and performance, which is felt right away in-game. Visually, the world is more engaging thanks to improvements in Vibrant Visuals mode and new lighting, and while the refreshed menus and UI take some getting used to, they generally make navigation easier. But one thing at a time.
Main changes
Here, the developers paid special attention to block interactions and behavior. Changes affected placement details, textures, and shelf handling, making gameplay more precise.

Blocks
- Tadpoles now spawn in water under frog eggs.
- The copper lantern and torch got new textures — easier to tell apart now.
- The shelf vibrates in response to a redstone signal.
- Anvils and wall blocks can be placed on shelves and in frames.
- Handling items on a shelf triggers different vibrations.
- Adding or removing an item from a powered shelf triggers another vibration type.
- Swapping items on an electric shelf amplifies the effect.
Items
- Suspicious Stew is now in Creative mode, with a visible effect in the inventory.
- The copper golem statue glows in a glowing frame.
- Shields, decorated pots, and maps also glow when placed in a lit frame.
Mobs
- Chicken Jockeys now drop the “Lava Chicken” music disc if killed by a player or a wolf.
- The copper golem can hand over an item if you interact with it or equip armor on it.
- If the golem had a flower on its head and turns into a statue, a poppy drops.
- Wither skeletons pick up copper swords.
- Scraping and waxing particles appear near the golem.
- Golems get a name if made from a statue.
- Drowned spawn with enchanted tridents. <
- The volume of hostile mobs mimicked by a parrot is adjustable in settings.
Overall, these tweaks made Minecraft a bit more interesting and pleased with attention to detail, especially around rare drops and customization. Looking broader, we hope Mojang brings deeper changes to mob mechanics and gameplay features to make survival and exploration even more exciting.
New audio
- Opening and closing sounds of the copper chest now have a natural decay curve.
- Footsteps and rotations of the copper golem also use a natural decay curve.
- Unique ambient effects now play when the player is underwater.
In my view, the visual updates are debatable. Vibrant Visuals and the new lighting effects, especially underwater, look impressive, but sometimes the image gets too bright or, conversely, loses contrast. For example, the new “biome blending” works well, yet occasionally leads to unexpected color choices.
Overall, the update feels like a step forward, but there’s more to do to hit the ideal balance between graphics and usability.

Fixed bugs
As for fixes, a lot piled up since the last part — specifically 83 bugs. Here are, in my view, the most critical fixes:
- Fixed a critical issue where a player could fall into the void after teleporting from the End portal.
- Fixed shield damage while mining blocks and incorrect projectile deflection.
- Resolved the annoying bug of falling into the void after teleporting to the End.
- The shield now correctly protects and deflects projectiles.
- Lantern animations are more noticeable.
- Copper chests received a unified look.
- Marketplace and downloads are now more stable.
- Graphics and contrast in Vibrant Visuals improved.
- Mobs and glass become transparent when the camera moves close.
- Fixed an annoying crash with hoppers.
- Visual issues with armor and mob textures were eliminated.
- Menus and UI were updated and are much more convenient.
- Improved behavior of audio, buttons, and inventory.
To sum up Minecraft 1.21.120.04’s new features, with each patch the game feels more atmospheric — the new details truly enrich the world. Still, it feels like audio’s potential isn’t fully realized yet, and we’d love to see this area evolve further in future versions.
