Minecraft 1.26.20.23/24 Beta

Minecraft 1.26.20.23/24 Beta - the developers have released a fresh beta version for Android. The highlight of this update is the upcoming summer 2026 update called «Cubes of Chaos». I've already explored the new features, roamed the new biomes, and gathered the key details for you.

Sulfur Caves and Blocks

We’re getting an entirely new underground biome. Sulfur Caves stand out with their striking contrast against regular stone. They generate with shallow pools and are densely covered in glowing lichen. But the main attraction is the new building materials.

  • Cinnabar. A bright red rock that adds a vibrant touch to builders' palettes.
  • Sulfur. Rich yellow crystalline blocks.
  • A wide range for decoration. Both materials come with polished versions, carved blocks, bricks, stairs, slabs, and fences.

The Main Surprise - Sulfur Cube

Meet your new quirky pet. The Sulfur Cube is a passive mob that inhabits the new caves. It resembles a slime but has a couple of unique traits.

It takes no fall damage and splits into two smaller copies upon death. These little ones grow into larger cubes over time, just like regular animal offspring.

The wildest mechanic is that the cubes have a huge appetite and can absorb blocks, changing their physical properties:

  • Feed the cube ice — it becomes slippery.
  • Give it an iron block — it gets heavier, and gravity pulls it down harder.
  • Let it absorb wool — it becomes light and floats.
  • Feed it a log — it starts bouncing humorously off surfaces.
  • If you want your block back, just use shears on the cube.

Beware of Water - Sulfur Springs

Sulfur Springs can now be found both on the surface and underground. You’ll easily recognize them by the sulfur and cinnabar blocks around the yellowish water. At the bottom of these pools lies a new block — concentrated sulfur, which releases toxic gas bubbles to the surface.

If you accidentally swim in one of these springs or inhale the gas, you’ll suffer an unpleasant nausea effect.

Bug Fixes

The team also rolled out a decent list of fixes for old bugs. Here are the key highlights from the patch notes:

  • Fixed mouse sensitivity on Windows.
  • Bows and crossbows no longer disappear when enabling texture streaming.
  • Improved physical keyboard input on iOS.
  • Minecarts now correctly transfer impulses to each other — roller coaster builders can relax.
  • Ravagers still destroy leaves and crops but no longer touch flowers. Aesthetes rejoice.
  • Fixed crashes when returning from the Realms subscription screen.
  • Added 42 technical changes for addon creators.

Every update brings mixed feelings, and this one is no exception. Overall, «Cubes of Chaos» feels fresh and adds an excellent layer of new interactions to the game. We’re looking forward to the stable release to fully test all the mechanics.

Leave your comments and share your impressions. Which block will you feed to the Sulfur Cube first?

When installing the Beta (test) version, it is advisable to make backup copies of the worlds
