Minecraft 26.40.30 Beta - The developers rolled out a fresh Android test build. And honestly, this is one of those updates that doesn’t turn the game upside down, but simply makes it nicer. Cozier, even. I’ve already checked out all the new features, slept on straw, scattered cushions around the house, and boiled it all down to the good stuff for you.
Cushion
Let’s start with what grabbed me the most. New item — Cushion. Basically, it’s a pillow you can plop down on anywhere. Sounds minor? Not really.

What you need to know:
- Crafted from 3 Wool Slabs of the same color;
- Available in 16 colors — enough for any taste or interior;
- Can be placed on any flat surface;
- Always aligns horizontally to the grid, but sits on top of the support block;
- Can’t be moved — break the support, and the cushion breaks too;
- Has no collision, so it can overlap other objects freely (except other cushions).
Straw Bed
The second new feature is the Straw Bed. And this is probably the most useful thing in the whole update.

How it works:
- Lets you sleep through the night, but does not change your spawn point;
- Single-use — it breaks after sleeping;
- Can’t be used in the Nether or the End (try it, and the bed breaks) ;
- Crafted from 3 Hay Bales and gives you 4 beds at once.
Abandoned Camp
This location got a solid rework, and it’s one of those cases where small details come together into something genuinely nice.
What changed:
- Now generates in the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes;
- Straw Beds can now be found in camps;
- Procedural tree generation was added;
- Incorrect potion names in loot tables were fixed.
Autumn Forest
Dappled Forest got a batch of visual and audio tweaks. And the biome only benefits from it.

Upgrade list:
- The biome fog was adjusted to better match other forests;
- The orange, red, and yellow poplar leaf textures were updated;
- New sounds were added for poplar leaves and red shrubs;
- Opaque poplar leaves were fixed — the black background is gone;
- Hinges were added to the poplar door icon;
- The poplar sign texture was corrected;
- Wool stair and slab recipes were restored.

Fixed bugs
And now for the part many people install previews for in the first place — bug cleanup. There’s quite a lot here, so I picked out the highlights:
- Azalea and flowering azalea no longer turn translucent when viewed from below;
- Mushrooms can no longer be placed outdoors in the dark;
- Mushrooms now grow on crimson and warped nylium regardless of lighting;
- Structure loot no longer differs on the same seed;
- A single incorrect pixel on the Sulfur Spike texture was fixed (yes, they catch even that);
- Books and quills from worlds older than version 26.30 no longer freeze the game;
- Arrows of Harming no longer bounce off mobs and now disappear correctly on hit;
- A crash caused by spawning more than one Iron Golem was fixed;
- Servers now try to resolve player connection issues on their own;
- A failure during structure generation with double chests was fixed;
- A crash when turning cement into concrete was fixed;
- The focus indicator on the «Additional Parameters» button no longer relies on color alone;
- Touch scrolling in the creative inventory has returned;
- Split-screen was fixed — players can change settings again;
- Vibrant Visuals support on Android was updated, with more devices now supported;
- A rendering bug that made items and text disappear on some Android GPUs was fixed;
- Performance drops in the Nether were fixed.
This Minecraft 26.40.30 Beta update is the kind that doesn’t break the game, but makes it cozier in the details. Cushions are great for decorators, the straw bed saves your spawn point, biomes feel more complete, and the bugfix list is genuinely impressive.
