![Elytra vs. Powder Snow: who wins? In Minecraft]()
Hello everyone! Honestly, sometimes I feel my Minecraft experiments deserve their own show. Today’s first thought: “What if I build a towering wall of powder snow and slam into it at full speed with elytra?” I couldn’t shake the question — will there be damage or a clean pass-through effect? Too tempting not to test, right?
Flight prep: how the snow wall was born
Fueled by the idea, I started building this giant icy wall. Truth be told — the process was insanely fun! Huge, practically a monument to my curiosity. While building, emotions were off the charts; I imagined myself a test pilot about to break a record or just crash (yes, there was humor). Snapped a couple of shots — a memento of crazy ideas!

Moment of truth: flight and impact
Alright then, elytra on, height maxed, I’m at the start. Adrenaline surging! Three... two... one... I surge forward straight at the snowy giant! A blink — and… THROUGH! Zero damage. I passed through the wall like an invisible hero. The feeling — something else! Honestly — I expected at least a small jolt, but got a perfect phantom effect. Tried again (and again)… same result.
Why does this happen?
The trick is simple: powder snow isn’t a solid block; it’s more like a trap for walkers and mobs. During fast elytra flight, the game doesn’t “catch” the player inside the block, so all you might feel is a light chill down the neck if you linger. But if you zip through quickly — you’re completely unharmed.

Pros and cons of this move
Pros:
- Safe hidden passages. Build a powder snow wall, no one suspects a thing, and you glide right into the base.
- Great for server mini-games and tricks. Surprise friends or stage an unexpected quest.
- Totally harmless for the elytra pilot. Even on a ramming run, you don’t lose health.
- Looks spectacular. Flying through a “solid” wall — it’s pure magic!
Cons:
- Risky to linger inside. Stay in the block after the flight and you’ll start freezing — real damage incoming.
- Won’t save a sloppy landing. Drop without elytra speed? You might get stuck and have to wriggle out.
- Potential visibility issues. It’s quite dark inside; in a long tunnel you can “get lost” in the snow.
Personal take and tip
This experiment delivered 100%! I loved the idea and the outcome. I’ll use powder snow for secret entrances and fun traps on the server. The golden rule — don’t loiter, or you’ll freeze — literally and figuratively!
