Mace vs Allay: a duel that shouldn’t exist in Minecraft

Hey everyone! Be honest: who hasn’t had a “what if…?” moment in Minecraft? I literally sometimes wake up at night thinking: if we mix the unmixable, what happens? This time my brain dropped a “brilliant” idea: what if I hit an allay with a mace? First thought — nah, won’t work. Second — I’ll test it so I stop guessing! And so began my little saga of “experiments for science” (and a bit for fun).
Setting up the test site… or just a glass aquarium
Honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to torment my survival pet allay — poor thing! So I jumped straight into Creative and built a super-cool glass “aquarium.” I released a freshly summoned allay inside, ceremoniously handed it a cookie (at least a last snack), while it circled innocently, unaware of the top-secret experiment. It felt almost like a lab, just without white coats and with lots of blocks.
First attempt: steady hand, and the allay didn’t notice
Okay, mace equipped, scientific rigor to the max. I click on our subject — and… nothing! The allay didn’t even blink, kept cheerfully flying as if to say, “Oh, you doing something? I’m busy.” I was a bit bummed: the experiment just started and zero answers! On the flip side, that serenity is admirable — rare for a mob.
Second attempt: attack from above, a leap of faith
I thought, in for a penny — the mace’s trick is fall damage! I built a neat higher platform, jumped, gained speed — and dove like a master of vertical combat. Hand on heart: hitting that tiny flier is not just hard, it’s near impossible! But on the third try I landed it, mace from above — and… silence. The allay didn’t change a bit, maybe flicked a wing like, “Go on, try again!” That’s when it clicked: no damage, direct or from height, affects the allay. Wild!
Expert opinion (mine): Why I love the allay
Honestly, I’m thrilled! If my favorite flying buddies were vulnerable to the mace (or any other prank), I’d be first to start a protection campaign. Allays are walking positivity; we truly need them for vibes and looks! After all this, I thought: kudos to the devs for shielding them so well from gamer experiments like mine.
Where a mace fits best (and whether it does)
If you want to feel the mace’s power — go to zombies, skeletons, Guardians, even yourself to experiment (just don’t forget water in your inventory!). As for allays, practice shows it’s best to leave them be: let them bring drops, dance, and lift everyone’s mood. Their strength isn’t HP, it’s charisma.
Share your crazy ideas!
That’s the experiment: heartfelt and absolutely safe for everyone. Have you tried similar crazy tests? Managed to uncover what no one knew?
