![Minecraft Developers Begin Testing Chaos Cubed Update: Bedrock 26.20.23 Beta Review]()
Mojang Studios has officially released the Minecraft Bedrock 26.20.23 beta, giving players access to the upcoming Chaos Cubed update. We had the first opportunity to personally test new mechanics, unique biomes, and unusual mobs. This release introduces many exciting elements that will change the approach to dungeon exploration and mechanism creation.

Reasons for Changes and a New Approach to Updates
The Mojang team continues to develop the concept of frequent content "drops." Instead of making fans wait an entire year for major releases, developers are releasing focused portions of content. This version structure allows for quicker responses to community feedback and regular refreshes to gameplay. The Chaos Cubed update focuses on expanding the game's underground world and adding interactive elements that diversify building and minigame creation.
Sulfur Caves: The Dangerous Beauty of the Underground
The main innovation is the Sulfur Caves biome. This unique underground zone is inspired by real geothermal springs. The caves are densely covered with glowing lichen and filled with small lakes.
A particular danger comes from sulfur pools. At the bottom of these water bodies, a new block — Potent Sulfur — is generated. When it comes into contact with water, it creates bubbles and emits toxic gas. If a player or mob enters the gas cloud, they will experience a nausea effect. This forces explorers to be extremely cautious when descending into these new caves.

New Building Materials: Sulfur and Cinnabar
Chaos Cubed adds two complete sets of blocks that open up new possibilities for architects and builders:

- Sulfur: Yellow crystalline blocks.
- Cinnabar: Deep red stone formations.
Both materials can be mined in their basic form and processed. You have access to stairs, slabs, fences, polished variants, carved blocks, and bricks. This variety allows you to add bright, warm accents to your builds.

Sulfur Cube: An Interactive Companion
A new passive mob, the Sulfur Cube, inhabits the Sulfur Caves. Visually, it resembles a slime but has a completely unique mechanic. The Sulfur Cube can absorb dropped items or blocks you give it.

After absorbing a block, the cube's physical properties change entirely. If you feed it an iron block, it becomes incredibly heavy. A wool block makes it light and bouncy, wooden logs add elasticity, and ice makes it slide. You can hit the cube to move it around. The strength and direction of your hit determine the mob's trajectory.

Impact on Players
These innovations have a noticeable impact on gameplay. Builders gain access to a new color palette of red and yellow shades. Engineering and redstone enthusiasts can use Sulfur Cubes to create complex physical puzzles, traps, sports minigames (like golf or hockey), and unconventional mechanisms. Survival in mines also becomes more challenging due to the appearance of toxic gas zones.

Important Bug Fixes
In addition to new content, the Bedrock 26.20.23 beta includes several important technical fixes:
- Fixed an issue with increased mouse sensitivity on Windows.
- Resolved a visual bug where bows and crossbows disappeared from players' hands when texture streaming was enabled.
- Fixed text input errors with physical keyboards on iOS devices.
- The Ravager's behavior now matches the Java version: it correctly destroys leaves and crops upon collision but leaves flowers untouched.
- Improved minecart physics — they now correctly transfer momentum when colliding on the same tracks.
Share Your Thoughts
The Chaos Cubed update makes Minecraft's underground world more vibrant, dangerous, and interactive. Developers continue to test the Sulfur Cube's physics and the balance of new biomes, so your feedback is especially important now.
Which element of the new update do you find most interesting? Are you planning to build a base in the Sulfur Caves, or are you already designing minigames with the Sulfur Cube? Share your ideas and impressions in the comments!
