On top of that, the Cushion fits naturally into the recently added Abandoned Camps, which now generate in the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes. That’s where you can find this item in a natural setting — as an atmospheric detail of an abandoned camp by the fire.

What does this soft block offer?

Before you rush off to craft it, it’s worth understanding its properties:

• Crafting recipe: 3 Wool Slabs of the same color — and the Cushion is yours.

• 16 color variants: any wool color gives the matching cushion shade, so it’s easy to fit into your interior.
• Placement: the Cushion can be placed on any flat surface and always aligns to the horizontal grid, sitting on top of its supporting block.
• No collision: it is not a full block in physical terms, so it can overlap with other objects, except other cushions.
• Fragility: if the block underneath the Cushion is removed, it breaks. So place it on a solid base.
• Immovable: it cannot be pushed or moved by pistons.

Right now, the Cushion is an experimental feature as part of Drop 3, so in survival mode it is not yet available everywhere — but it can already be found in the creative inventory.

The Cushion is not just for resting

This is where the real fun begins. Players have already found plenty of ways to use the Cushion beyond simply “sitting by the campfire”:

• Soft furniture: placed on stairs or slabs, the Cushion instantly turns them into full-fledged sofas, armchairs, and benches. This is a real breakthrough for builders who have long wanted a proper way to furnish a living room.

• Cozy corners and libraries: a few cushions of different colors on low platforms, and you already have a reading room or lounge area.
• Roleplay maps and adventures: for RPG map creators, the Cushion opens up new possibilities for decorating taverns, throne rooms, and living spaces.
• Open spaces: a garden with flowerbeds and colorful cushions on benches can now be recreated without extra tricks.
• Cinemas and arenas: rows of cushions in front of a large screen made of maps or glowing blocks — a simple and effective solution.

Does it change the rules of the game?

The Cushion is not just decoration. Its arrival changes the approach to building and interacting with the world. For the first time, players have an interactive furniture item made specifically for sitting — and it feels completely different from the old boat-based hacks.

For server communities, this is especially important: roleplay servers, peaceful SMPs, and building projects get a new tool for creating atmosphere. And with 16 colors, the Cushion is guaranteed to fit any style — from a medieval castle to a modern loft.
