![Experiment of the Century: Nautilus vs Lava]()
Hello, friends! It's your restless explorer of cubic realms back again. Honestly, sometimes I come up with ideas that would make Greenpeace ashamed, but curiosity — well, you can't turn it off.
After taming my nautilus Spiral (which I wrote about in my previous post), the first thought that came to mind was: «Hmm, he's the king of the ocean, but what about... the lava ocean in the Nether?» Well, why not? If there are striders, why not a lava nautilus?
Preparing for Madness
Of course, I'm not a monster to just throw my friend into the fire. The plan was as reliable as a Swiss watch:
- Grab a bucket with a nautilus (yes, I had to catch a volunteer, Spiral stayed safe at home).
- Brew the most powerful Fire Resistance Potion (8 minutes, just to be sure).
- Find a safe shore in the Nether.
It was quite a scene: there I stood on the edge of a lava lake, a trembling bucket with a mollusk in one hand and a potion in the other. The ghasts looked at me like I was an idiot, and the piglins whispered among themselves.

The Moment of Truth
I threw a splash Fire Resistance Potion at the nautilus. It glowed with orange bubbles — protection activated! «Well, — I thought, — time to make history». And I released it into the lava.
At first, everything seemed fine. It didn't catch fire! I was about to shout «Eureka!» and write to Notch to add a lava saddle... But then things got strange.
The nautilus started twitching and taking damage. But not from fire! It... was suffocating.

The Sad Outcome
It turns out Minecraft physics is unforgiving. Yes, the Fire Resistance Potion protected its shell from turning into a roasted delicacy. But for the game, lava — is not water. Technically, for a sea creature, being in lava is equivalent to being on land. It simply can't breathe!
The poor thing didn't die from heat but from suffocation. Lava, for it, is like very thick, hot air.
Verdict: The experiment was a spectacular failure. Don't try this at home (or in the Nether). The nautilus is an exclusively aquatic creature, and no magic can change that. Protect your mollusks and keep them far away from hellish resorts!
Write in the comments what other crazy tests I should try. Maybe put a squid on a minecart?
