Breaking Boundaries: How to Destroy Bedrock in Minecraft

Breaking through the Nether ceiling opens up incredible building opportunities for players. To construct large farms and safe transportation networks, we need to create a hole in the bedrock. Material Preparation and Safety

To create the mechanism for breaking bedrock, you’ll need a small set of items. Gather the following in your inventory:

• 1 block of netherrack
• 1 block of obsidian
• 2 regular pistons
• 2 blocks of TNT
• 1 oak trapdoor
• 1 lever

Be sure to wear diamond or netherite armor. It’s recommended to use enchantments for blast protection. You’ll be at the epicenter of the detonation of two TNT blocks. Without reliable equipment, this explosion will be fatal.

Adjusting Controls for Guaranteed Success

Now break the netherrack and replace it with the first piston. It should be facing upward and directly against the target bedrock.

Step 2: Placing TNT and Trapdoor

Place a netherrack block on top of the obsidian. Place two TNT blocks — one on the piston and the other on the netherrack. Attach an oak trapdoor at the level of the obsidian block. Finally, place a lever on the netherrack or obsidian block next to the TNT.

Step 3: Activating the Mechanism

Stand next to the trapdoor. Activate the lever. Immediately after, open the trapdoor, enter it, and close it so your character lies down. Quickly aim your mouse cursor at the top corner of the obsidian block. Hold down the pre-configured block placement key (e.g., «R») and keep it pressed until the explosion is complete.

Checking the Result

After the explosion smoke clears, check the placement area. If the second piston is placed facing upward and the bedrock below it has disappeared — you’ve done it correctly.

Sometimes the method fails due to server delays or incorrect timing. If the bedrock remains in place, simply rebuild the mechanism. Reposition the piston, netherrack, TNT, trapdoor, and lever. Repeat the attempts until the top layer gives way.
